Even More Fun Religious Games for Your Confirmation Party
These game ideas are great if you have a large group of people, such as a church youth group celebrating confirmation together. These games are inexpensive to set up and a whole lot of fun to play!
1. Balloon Popping Trivia – To play this game, type up some Bible trivia questions, verses with missing words, or even moral dilemma situations where students would have to answer what they would do in that situation. Print out these questions and cut them out. Put each question in a balloon before inflating the balloons. After inflating them, use a marker to number all of the balloons. At the party, turn on some music and tell the participants that while the music is playing the goal is to keep all of the balloons in the air. Once the music stops, they must each grab one balloon. Call out a random number. The person holding that balloon must pop the balloon and answer the question inside. Give candy or other small prizes to those who answer correctly.
2. Family Feud, Bible Categories – Turn your party into this beloved television game show. Before the party, prepare a space to play by writing categories on strips of poster board and hanging them on a wall or bulletin board. The categories can be things like, the Seven Deadly Sins, Jesus’ miracles, etc. Then, write out all of the possible answers on smaller strips of paper (make sure to keep track of which answers are where!). At the party, divide everyone who wants to play into teams of 4-6 people. To play there are two rounds:
Use a coin toss to decide which team will go first. The winning team must choose a category, and then take turns giving answers to that category. Team members cannot help each other generate answers in this part of the game. Continue like this until all of the correct answers have been given or until the team has 3 strikes. Each correct answer is worth 2 points and each incorrect answer is a strike.
If the team gets 3 strikes, the other team has a chance to steal all of their points. The second team can talk amongst themselves for a short time (<1 minute) and give one answer. If that answer is correct, they get all of the other teams points. If it is incorrect, the first team gets to keep their points.
Continue playing like this until you have gone through all of the categories. The team with the most points at the end wins! Award small prizes to those winners.
5. Missing Word Scavenger Hunt – Before the party, prepare some Bible verses by removing one word. For example, from Genesis 8:11, “When the ___ returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.” The correct answer is dove. At the party, give small teams a list of these clues and a Bible. The goal of this scavenger hunt is for participants to find an object to represent the missing word in each verse. If they do not know the answer, they can use the Bible to look up the verse. This game is great to play at a mall or department store, and participants can take pictures of the objects using their phones.
