Choosing your wedding officiant (priest, rabbi, minister, judge, clerk, justice of the peace etc) is an important task, as (s)he often sets the whole tone of the ceremony. His/her values and style should complement your own. Obviously some of these questions won’t be relevant if you’re going with the priest at your parish or the rabbi at your synagogue. Look online for reviews (EasyEventPlanning.com may have reviews of officiants in your area). Here are a few questions to help you find just the right officiant to preside over your special day:

2. Are you licensed to perform ceremonies in the state of __________?
3. What made you become a (justice of the peace, minister, etc)?

5. How many ceremonies do you typically handle in the same day?
6. How many other ceremonies do you have already scheduled on my wedding day?
7. Will you be the one personally presiding over my ceremony?
8. How much time do you need before the ceremony (for set up)?
9. What types of creative touches can you add to the ceremony?
10. Can you describe a typical ceremony?
