Ice sculptures can add a decorative, artful, elegant touch to your event while really impressing your guests. The possibilities are nearly endless. Here are some tips to keep in mind:
1. Sculptures are typically carved from a block of ice weighing 300 pounds and measuring 40” high, 20” wide and 10” deep.
2. The sculpture itself typically weighs 150-200 pounds so make sure you have a stable surface for it.
3. Regardless of where you place the sculpture in the room, allow space for guests to gather around it.
4. Sculptures can compliment any event. Be creative! Your sculptor may be able to sculpt just about anything. Some common wedding designs include:
Kissing Swans
String Harp
Intertwined Hearts
Monograms of the bride and groom
Flowers
Doves
Wedding Bells
Hobbies of the bride and groom (basketball, golf club, musical notes, books, etc) Cinderella Carriage
Castle
6. The sculpture typically comes with a drip tray, disguised with baby’s breath and greenery. You can place food on the sculpture itself to achieve a dual purpose – creating a stunning centerpiece while keeping the food cold. You could use a dolphin or fish fountain as a base for a seafood buffet or a waterfall to serve drinks or chocolate fondue.
7. Sculptures are either hand-carved, creating a crystal clear effect or molded. Molded sculptures can often be tinted to match the color of your event. Sculptures can often embed items to match your theme – flowers, crystals, bamboo, feathers, etc.
8. Most ice sculptures last four to six hours (indoors), possibly longer, depending on the conditions of the room and what the piece is being used for. The larger the sculpture, the longer it will last. 9. You can find an ice sculpture vendor at EasyEventPlanning.com or check out the National Ice Carving Association to find a great carver in your area.
