7 Ideas for Decorating the Newlywed Getaway Vehicle

Every newly married couple deserves a stylist send-off!  Any combination of the ideas below will make it a memory moment.  Don’t be afraid to push the envelope.  It’s customary for the groomsmen to take on this responsibility.

1.    You can go with the old stand-by: writing “Just Married!” (and including the couples’ names and wedding date) with sponge markers (found at most auto stores), soap or shaving cream.  Those markers come in a variety of colors now.  If they’re rented a car, check to see if there are any restrictions before deciding on your weapon of choice.  If using shaving cream, keep it to the windows and it can damage the paint on a car. Avoid electrical and masking tape on the body as well.
2.    Add hearts, an engagement ring, their names, the wedding date, etc on the windows as well.
3.    Wrap the vehicle in wrapping paper, streamers or toilet paper.  Make it a challenge to get inside the vehicle!
4.    Attach noise-makers to the back bumper.  Rule of thumb: choose something loud (tin cans are always a good stand-by)!  You can also use streamers.  Just be sure to keep the license plate visible.
5.    Tie balloons to the door handles.
6.    Don’t forget the inside – place photos or confetti throughout the vehicle.  Or fill the car with balloons and watch as the couple try to enter the car amid popping balloons.  If you don’t attach string to the balloons, they are 100% biodegradable.
7.    Include Send-off gift basket (wine, champagne, glasses, snacks, etc) for them to open later on that night.
