11 Honeymoon Ideas

After the hustle and bustle of the wedding has subsided it’s time to relax and have fun on the honeymoon.  In choosing the ideal honeymoon for you, make sure you consider your style (do you prefer a tropical island, city, mountain view, safari, etc), preferred activities (sight-seeing, surfing, golfing, lounging, adventure-seeking, scuba-diving, gambling, etc), budget, and desire to mingle with other guests (maybe you want a couples-only resort with no children, your own table on a cruise, a secluded island, etc).  Do you want an all-in-one resort?

1.    Backpack through Europe.  By a couple of Eurorail passes, a “Let’s go Europe” book and be on your way!  You’ll contend with student travelers in the summer months but get better weather.  Fall is a great time for European travel – you’ll still have good weather but avoid the throngs of student travelers.

2.    Explore just one (or maybe two) European countries but leave the backpacks at home.  Italy, Greece and Spain are great choices.  You can sight-see, get a little culture and relax

3.    Pick an all-in-one/all-inclusive resort and just relax.  You won’t even need a car.   Try Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands, etc.

4.    Pacific Islands - Bora Bora, Fiji, and Tahiti are not only romantic and sexy, but also serve as a wonderful, exotic escape. These islands are very secluded, with minimal tourist traffic which really sets it apart from your typical vacation spot. Also, the limited “tourist activities” encourage couples to focus on each other rather than all the activities around them. The majority of hotels and resorts in this region offer a wide variety of “couples” accommodations, such as couples massages and couples sightseeing.

5.    Gamble and party in Las Vegas. You’ll have an endless number of activities, restaurants, clubs and shows to choose from.

6.    Disney World – not just for kids anymore.

7.    Ski in Aspen or Lake Tahoe.  You can easily find secluded, cozy log cabins and fun ski resorts.

8.    Take a cruise to the Mediterranean, Alaska or Western Caribbean.  You can usually find a cruise to match your budget and fit your time constraints.  Mention you’ll be on your honeymoon when booking and you might get a complimentary upgrade.

9.    Go for some adventure in Costa Rica.  Take a zip-line tour through the jungle, take a surf lesson or just relax on a beautiful beach.

10.    Go camping.  A great choice for the budget-minded.

11.    Enjoy the mountains of Colorado, Montana or Utah.
